Shockwave Therapy

What is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave therapy is a non-surgical procedure used to heal chronic soft tissue conditions and musculoskeletal disorders; it has been proven effective and offered to patients for nearly 15 years.

The therapy can help those with sports injuries or overuse injuries and aid in healing for those undergoing chiropractic care for various complaints.

How Does Shockwave Therapy Work?

ESWT employs a series of high-energy acoustic waves delivered to the patient’s skin via a transducer with a topical gel as a medium. The pulses of energy delivered to the injured area activate circulation, break down scar tissue, and promote new cell growth. Each session lasts between five and 15 minutes, depending on the patient and their condition.

This new technology for pain management is entirely safe and generally painless and does not necessitate anesthesia or pain medications. Shockwave therapy offers dynamic chronic pain relief and better, faster, and more complete healing.

Common conditions shockwave therapy can treat include:

  • Knee pain and knee injuries, including runner’s knee
  • Ankle strain and sprains
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Muscle strains
  • Ligament sprains
  • Shin splints
  • Wrist pain and carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Hip pain
  • IT band syndrome
  • Sciatica
  • Bursitis
  • Elbow pain, including golfer's elbow and tennis elbow
  • Shoulder pain, including rotator cuff injuries
  • Neck pain
  • Heel spurs
  • Chronic pain

These conditions can impact the quality of your life, making exercise, work, and social engagements challenging. Whether this has been the case for years or has recently taken hold, you can get the care you need to live fully once again.

Are There Side Effects of Shockwave Therapy?

Patients may experience temporary swelling and tenderness at the treatment site due to the body’s innate inflammatory response that increases blood flow. This is the body’s healthy healing mechanism and should not be suppressed with anti-inflammatory drugs.

These side effects are typically very minimal, if felt at all, and in numerous cases, patients report significant pain relief after just one treatment session.

What are you waiting for? Shockwave treatment is one of the best pain relief therapies for fast, organic results. Get back to the active life you enjoy, starting now.

How Long Until I See Results from Shockwave Therapy?

Unfortunately, there is no way to say how many sessions you will need until we see you for a visit. After your initial consultation and exam, we will be able to advise you on the approximate number of necessary sessions.

You are unique, and so is your injury and how your body responds to it. Some conditions require only a couple of treatments, while others need five or six.

The Benefits of Shockwave Therapy
