Laser (L.A.S.E.R.) is an acronym for Light Amplification via Stimulated Emission of Radiation. This means that the photons are amplified by the physical processes of the laser design. One term used to describe this is Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT).
The term Low Level Laser Therapy assumes that the laser emission is low enough so that the treated tissue temperature does not rise more than a few degrees celsius above normal body temperature. Thus, there is no significant heating effect as there is with higher power lasers.
Within the field of LLLT, there is a wide range of Lasers being used clinically. Our office has the best technology available in the Class IV category. Our Apollo Laser will deliver results faster and more accurate than Class III Lasers. Our Class IV Laser is better for pain control, and can cover more treatment area than a Class III, thus the results tend to be better with this Laser classification.
During a treatment session with our Laser, there will be little to no sensation, it is quick, easy and a painless procedure. Treatment is effective and efficient, and highly accurate. Typical treatment protocols vary depending upon the condition and severity of the diagnosis, however optimal results can be expected in fewer sessions with a Class IV laser compared to a Class III. A typical treatment time can be from as little as 2-3 minutes up to 10-12 minutes.
There has been a recent surge in the use of medical lasers all over the world, particularly in physical medicine to achieve a wide variety of benefits and conditions. Some of the most common conditions being successfully treated with Laser therapy include:
